Perovskite QDs: Latest Progress, Roadmap, and Novel Applications
Perovskite QDs are an exciting advanced material frontier. They enable achieving ultra narrow FWHM even using low-T growth conditions. The green versions are already stable enough for enhacement mode film implementation. The thermal and light flux stability for green versions is fast improving.

Perovskites are exciting materials. When applied in thin film form to photovoltaics, they are fast improving their EQE records. Indeed, they have the fastest learning curve amongst all PV technologies. The stability problem has held the technology back, especially for large cells, but there are excellent results on this front too.
However, this session is not focused on PV thins, but on quantum dot emitters for a variety of applications including displays, x-ray detectors, security tagging, and beyond. In this session, we have lined up all the exciting developers of perovskite QDs from right around the world
Just some background: in displays, the key driver for use of QDs is to narrow the emission spectrum (i.e., narrow the FWHM) to achieve a wider color gamut. The key advantage of perovskite QDs (PeQDs) is that their band structure is intrinsically more tolerant of detects compared to other material compositions, meaning that one can achieve ultra narrow FWHM (<20nm) even using a low-T growth process.
The PeQDs are not yet as stable as InP or Cd based QDs. The color is thus far limited to green, but red being too unstable. There is also lead in the leading compositions, but lead is not as toxic as cadmium.
This session looks at the past, present, and future of PeQDs across all applications.
